Serena is an international yoga teacher trainer (E-RYT 500), Professional Yoga Therapist, Ayuryoga® Wellness Consultant and Ayurvedic Practitioner. With a Bachelor of Education and Masters in Wholistic Therapy, she is dedicated to life-long study of Yoga and Ayurveda; completing programs of study at the Chakrapani Ayurvedic Clinic and Research Centre, Mount Madonna School of Ayurveda, Vedika Global, and most recently, the world-renowned Ayurvedic Institute with Dr. Vasant Lad.
Over the past 15 years, Serena has guided and trained hundreds of students and yoga teachers using experiential curriculum integrating her vast studies of Yoga, wholistic health, fitness, and Ayurveda. She attributes her well-rounded professional development to her inspiring teachers and mentors from around the world; Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Rajesh Kotecha, Dr. Scott Blossom, Joseph & Lilian Lepage, Maria Garre, Sri Geeta Iyengar, and especially her very first ‘guruji’ at 5 years old - her dad.
Owner and sole teacher of Thrive Naturally, a yoga studio retreat in Alberta, she served the community at large, offering a wide range of yoga and wellness classes, workshops, retreats and trainings, and general human and planetary wellness education. She worked extensively with underserved populations, as well as senior, youth and athletic populations, and continues to integrate therapeutic yoga and mindfulness into both public and private youth and adult academia.
Serena is currently on faculty at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico; integrating her passion of living yoga and Ayurveda as a member of the Ayuryoga® teaching team. She also serves as Affiliate Trainer for the 200 hour Integrative Yoga Therapy Yoga Teacher Training, as well as co-trainer for the 300 hour Soma Yoga Institute Advanced Teacher Training, leading training programs around the world. Her authentic teaching style, unique creativity, and warm humour is often contagious and Serena is grateful to be able to inspire, affect change, and transform lives through Yoga & Ayurveda.
