Classes

Power Yoga
Strong practice using a heating breath that helps gain flexibility, muscle tone, breath awareness, mental & physical stamina. Be prepared to SWEAT! Experience an asset.

Beginner Power Yoga
A perfect introductory class for 'Flow' practitioners seeking a more physical practice or for those looking for a challenge, but who are new to a power practice. This is a great class for MEN! Gain lean muscle strength and flexibility - pain and injury free! No experience necessary.

NEW! YogaRUN
Whether you're a beginner or a marathon trainer, building a strong foundation of core strength, balance and stability is essential for any runner.

Start at your own pace, enjoy the outdoors and discover how strength training (power yoga) done properly can, and will, help improve your running performance!
The run start location will be at the LLB Golf & Country Club parking lot permanently. Start your run anytime from 6pm. onwards and then proceed with friends to the yoga studio. See you there!

Yo'Grow!'
- for TOTS (2-4 yrs.)
Explore movement and imagination with your tot or preschooler in Yo'Grow'! Stimulate creativity, coordination & FUN! Parent & child aged 2-4 yrs. old. Watch for the new Fall 2010 session!

NEW! Restorative Yoga for Relaxation

One of the best exercises for Older Adults, or for those with lower range of motion due to injury or body size, is Yoga. Helping to increase blood flow to the areas in need, including the brain, yoga promotes better quality sleep, improved memory, increased flexibility, mobility & strength. Learn to take charge of the body you live in - and ENJOY IT! This class is beneficial to both MEN & WOMEN. This class is FREE for SENIORS, but open to all ages! Tuesday 10:30-11:30am.

Girl Power
‘Tween’ girls (9 – 12 yrs.) cultivate new skills in a non-intimidating environment to increase confidence, strength & awareness. This generation of girls are going to be the future trailblazers; helping create balance on the Planet - discover how to be a true 'yogini' on and off the mat! NEW Session will start in the Fall 2010!


Yoga Therapy
A private yoga session designed just for you & your condition(s). Specific postures, mental images, at-home tips, and yoga therapy techniques will be explored. Sessions typically run 1-2 hours.

Karma Yoga
A donation yoga class will be offered every 1st Sunday of the month at 3pm.(if marked on the calendar). 100% of all donations will go directly to the chosen Karma organization. It is our way of contributing to the community… the children…the world… without expecting anything in return. Now that’s karma!

BellyFit
Fusion fitness that awakens women's mind, body and spirit through yoga, pilates, african dance, belly dancing and bhangra dancing. BRAND NEW class to Alberta... be the first to THRIVE!

Bellyfit is for beautiful, strong women of all sizes, all
shapes, all ages! Please bring CLEAN, INDOOR running shoes (will be inspected), water and a yoga mat. This class is contraindicated for pregnancy at any stage.

Worm Composting Bins

Worm Bins will be available on Friday, July 30th at the LAC LA BICHE STREET FESTIVAL!

Why compost?

  1. Long used in subsistence farming and home gardening for creating garden-ready soil, composting is becoming increasingly important and better understood as a tool for reducing municipal solid waste,[5] and reducing the amount of green waste going into landfills.
  2. The decomposition of organic material sent to landfills is a principal cause of methane, an important greenhouse gas, making reduction of organic waste being landfilled a key element in the fight against climate change.
  3. In general, net greenhouse gas emissions for landfills tend to be higher than that for composting facilities.[6]
  4. In suburban and rural areas, much of the organic waste could be removed from the waste stream by promoting home composting, where consumers compost their yard waste and kitchen scraps on their own land, regardless of whether the material is ever actively re-used as “soil”.[7]
  5. In urban areas with dwellings predominantly lacking individual yard space, there are indoor small scale composting alternatives, such as vermicomposting and bokashi composting.[8]

Yoga for Runners

runner Are you a runner or a wanna-be stronger jogger? Then this class is for you!
Whether you're a beginner or a marathon trainer, building a strong foundation of core strength, balance and stability is essential for any runner.

Start at your own pace, enjoy the outdoors and discover how strength training (power yoga) done properly can, and will, help improve your running performance!

Thursdays April 15 - June 3:
6pm. Meet at the LLB Golf & Country Club parking lot & choose to run 3 - 7 km.*
6:45-7:45pm. Power Yoga Class for Runners


*Learn to breathe properly in order to improve your run weekly. Please wear bright, visible clothing and dress appropriately for outdoor conditions. 'Non-runners' who choose to attend the Power Yoga Class ONLY, please watch for runners when driving out to THRIVE! studio. This class will be treated as a 'regularly scheduled' class and is included in any Unlimited monthly & Punch 10-pass. Just yogaRUN? Attend the 'YogaRUN' sessions only ($10/session).

As you know, some of the schools have arranged yoga classes through different foundations - Successful Families, Successful Kids, Be Fit For Life, and THRIVE!...Naturally.
Through these experiences, we have found that the kids (especially the younger ones) respond favorably to the use of a yoga mat - they learn to respect personal space (their own and others), as well as use their mats as a physical reminder to 'relax', 'breathe' and 'think'. Thank you for helping these kids take ownership of their feelings, attitudes and actions.... ONE MAT AT A TIME!
