Jasper, AB.

The Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Program is for those who want to teach Yoga as a healing art. You will learn to teach Yoga for a wide range of complementary settings including health care as well as Yoga classes for the general public. This program is open to anyone with a basic foundation in Yoga and is especially suitable for body-workers, health care professionals and all therapists. This program is registered with the Yoga Alliance as a basic 200-hour Teacher Training certification program (RYT-200).

The Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher Training program gives students in-depth skills to teach Yoga as a vehicle for total wellness. Along with offering Yoga classes with a focus on health and healing to the general public, IYT graduates teach Yoga-based wellness programs in a wide variety of complementary settings including hospitals, businesses, and complementary health care settings. IYT teachers also develop special focus programs, such as Yoga for back care, depression, seniors, stress management, and many other health conditions. The two-week intensive training is completed by taking a one-week module selected from a variety of week-long IYT specialization programs to complete the approved 200 hour Yoga teacher certification program by the Yoga Alliance.

Main Focus Areas of the Teacher Training Program:

Individualized Teacher and Learning - Develop your Yoga teaching as part of your own unique life vision and mission. The Integrative Yoga Teacher Training Program is based in the vision of Yoga Therapy using an individualized approach with the understanding that the needs of students are unique and each Yoga teacher should receive comprehensive and in-depth instruction in the wider vision of Yoga as well as detailed experiential instructions in the tools and techniques of Yoga. With this foundation, each teacher is given a range of possibilities for the creative teaching of Yoga from which they can evolve their own vision of the teaching process.
Experiential Approach to Education - Learn all the key concepts of teaching such as class design, sequencing, pacing, use of voice and instructions, and hands-on adjustments in a concise and clear format that is creative, comprehensive and interesting.

Sandra Coombe

SANDRA COOMBE
BA, RYT, RMT

Sandra’s dream is to support the vision of Yoga by making it accessible to all. She seeks to create a non-judgmental, non-competitive learning environment where the student feels free to explore the five bodies or "sheaths” in the yoga tradition – the physical, energy, emotional, wisdom and bliss bodies -- and all of their being. In this safe haven, the student can first find any starting place for themselves and then work, play and dance to unwind and create healing in all levels of their being. Through this reconnection, the student facilitates his or her own perfectly unique integration and unity.

Sandra teaches Yoga and attempts to live her life from a non-dual perspective. This tradition, known as ‘Advaita Vedanta’ presupposes that we are all essentially divine beings. When practicing from this place we give ourselves permission to drop striving, our need to ‘get’ somewhere or ’achieve’ something. Yoga then becomes a sublime vehicle for the journey home to the true self. Sandra is holds advanced certification from the Kripalu Centre, and Integrative Yoga Therapy. Her teachers include: Yogi Amrit Desai, Richard Miller, Mukunda Stiles, Georg Feurstein and Joseph LePage.
